What helps a child when they lose someone they love? Marvin finds his own answer – and it is overwhelmingly warm.

When his grandfather dies, Marvin encounters sadness. But it is not a shadow, nor a monster – it is a feeling. “I’m only here because you love someone.” Through it, Marvin discovers the balance of love and the power of memory. He learns how sadness gets smaller when you talk about it, and how love remains, even when someone leaves.

Marvin begins to help other children: Leni, who misses her cat; Erik, who is crying over his guinea pig Tapsi; Mila, who has lost her grandmother; and even an old farmer whose love is greater than his pain.
